Celtic Folk Music
In Northern California
Valley Quest came together as a product of Nathan’s love for Irish music and sharing time and tunes with his friends. It began with Nathan learning the bouzouki, Alisha on fiddle, a mission to learn as many melodies as possible and discover why Celtic music is so joyful and uplifting! Soon, he got his talented friend Ken Bostrom (incredible singer and whistle player) on board with the jamming, and soon after that, a good friend Trenton who has played the cajon (box drum) for many years.
Without any specific or grandiose ideas, they met and jammed as often as possible, purely enjoying the time spent together whether playing tunes or going out for a hike. One of the reasons, Nathan is sure, Valley Quest has continued to grow is the good relationships everyone within has with each other, and that friendship should be held higher than the aims of the band.
Nathan plays the bouzouki, piano, pennywhistle, melodica, harmonium, bodhran, kalimba, and other percussive instruments. He is also a songwriter.
Trenton plays the cajon (box drum), bodhran (irish goat-skin drum) and can sing incredibly low bass vocals. He has a way with jokes and keeps us all laughing through practice.
Alisha plays the fiddle, cello, and flute. Her jovial attitude towards life always uplifts the atmosphere. She has music pumping through her veins as she comes from a long legacy of musicians and fiddlers.
Kenny plays many whistles, sings beautifully, the didgeridoo, and duduk. His mission is to bring to the world historically based music and enchanting, storytelling, and heart captivating song.
